Application Instructions for Spot Anchors

Please read entire instructions first. For guidlines to selecting and configuring your anti-theft solution, visit the Configurations page.

CAUTION: Adhesive bonds on contact. Avoid getting adhesive on skin, in eyes or on clothes. Keep out of the reach of children. Use with care.

Before You Begin:

  • Position the equipment where it is going to be used. Plan your anchor, cable and padlock locations for each piece of equipment to be secured. Consider where each anchor will be mounted along with the direction of the anchor loop.
  • Select the best location on the equipment to mount the anchor. Be certain the mounting surface is completely flat and has no curves. Anchors are best applied when the mounting surface is horizontal. Tip the equipment if necessary.
  • Wipe the mounting surfaces clean of dirt. If you are applying the anchor to a painted or metal surface, remove the paint first by lightly sanding or by applying a liquid paint remover with an eye dropper.
  • Be aware that the adhesive sets in seconds and the anchor cannot be removed or adjusted.
  • Some equipment cases are made with a styrene plastic that makes an immediate bond difficult. Follow the same application instructions outlined below, but allow the anchor to remain in place without movement (preferably weighted down) for 24 hours.

Instructions for Spot Anchor models: AL, AL15, AL36, AL48, AAL6, AAL18, AAL30

  1. Apply a liberal bead of adhesive to the anchor as shown. In dry environments it may be helpful to lightly blow on the wet adhesive to activate it. Use enough adhesive so that when the anchor is pressed into place, the adhesive will spread to cover 100% of the anchor's mounting surface.
  2. Press the anchor firmly against the equipment case without twisting and hold in place for 60 seconds. It is normal for some adhesive to ooze out of the sides. Wipe away any excess adhesive with a tissue immediately.
  3. Allow several hours to fully set. Maximum bond is achieved after 24 hours.

Instructions for Spot Anchor models: ALB, ALB15

  1. Carefully consider the location of the anchor and the bolt hole. Be sure there is enough clearance behind the equipment case for the drill bit and bolt in order to avoid internal equipment damage. Remove the equipment case if necessary.
  2. Mark the equipment in the desired location. Drill a ¼” hole in the equipment case. Wipe the mounting surface clean.
  3. Thread the bolt all the way into the hole in the anchor.
  4. Apply a liberal bead of adhesive to the anchor as shown. In dry environments it may be helpful to lightly blow on the wet adhesive to activate it. Use enough adhesive so that when the anchor is pressed into place, the adhesive will spread to cover 100% of the anchor’s mounting surface.
  5. Pass the bolt through the hole in the equipment case and press the anchor firmly against the case without twisting. Hold it firmly in place for 60 seconds. It is normal for some adhesive to ooze out of the sides. Wipe away any excess adhesive with a tissue immediately.
  6. Thread the nut firmly onto the bolt on the inside of the equipment case.
  7. Allow several hours to fully set. Maximum bond is achieved after 24 hours.

Instructions for Spot Anchor model: ALBSP

Part A: Attach the Surface Plate (SP) to the Spot Anchor (ALB)

  1. Place the Spot Anchor label-down on a level surface. Apply a liberal bead of adhesive to the Spot Anchor as shown. In dry environments it may be helpful to lightly blow on the wet adhesive to activate it. Proceed without hesitation.
  2. Put the screw through the hole in the Surface Plate. Hold the SP in one hand and a screwdriver in the other. Position the SP above the Spot Anchor and align the screw with the hole in the Spot Anchor.
  3. Before allowing the SP to contact the Spot Anchor, begin threading the screw through the SP and into the hole in the Spot Anchor. Tighten the screw firmly. It is normal for some adhesive to ooze out of the sides. Wipe away any excess adhesive with a tissue immediately.

Part B: Install the assembled ALBSP anchor onto your equipment

  1. Apply a liberal bead of adhesive to the Surface Plate as shown.
  2. Press the ALBSP firmly against the equipment case without twisting and hold in place for 60 seconds. It is normal for some adhesive to ooze out of the sides. Wipe away any excess adhesive with a tissue immediately.
  3. Allow several hours to set. Maximum bond is achieved after 24 hours.

Instructions for SpotLink-5 anchor model: BA5

  1. Insert the five hex-bolts into plate A (see diagram). Place the steel pin through the washer and insert the pin into plate B. Bring plates A and B together and thread on the five nuts finger-tight.

Important: Step 1 must be completed before attaching the anchor to your equipment.

  2. Select the best location on your equipment to mount the BA5. The anchor requires a flat surface area free of ridges, screws, labels, battery covers, etc. Place your equipment so that the mounting surface is on top and horizontal. Place the anchor in position to assure a proper fit. Clean the mounting surface.
  3. Apply a liberal bead of adhesive to the upper surface of plate A starting 1/4" from the edge and spiraling into the center. In dry environments it may be helpful to lightly blow on the wet adhesive to activate it. Use enough adhesive so that when the anchor is pressed into place, the adhesive will spread to cover 100% of the anchor’s mounting surface.
  4. Press the anchor assembly firmly against the equipment case without twisting and hold it in place for 60 seconds. It is normal for some adhesive to ooze out of the sides. Wipe away any excess adhesive with a tissue immediately.
  5. Use a small amount of adhesive to mount the four rubber feet to the bottom corners of the equipment.
  6. To secure peripheral devices to the SpotLink-5 using other SecurTech cables, remove the five nuts and separate the plates. Insert cable end-loops into the anchor’s horseshoe-shaped slots. Replace the plate and tighten the screws.
  7. Select the desired location for your equipment on the desk or bench. Mark the point on the desk or bench where the hole needs to be drilled for the steel pin.
  8. Drill a 5/8” hole where the steel pin will be located. Put the equipment in place with the steel pin through the hole. Place a washer over the end of the steel pin and loop a padlock through the hole in the pin to secure the system.
